No preparation should be required. You do not need to stock up your cellar with cases of bottled water and dried food. The world will not end. No major software company will again represent dates as 2 digit numbers. This was done in the late 18th century due to space being limited in early computers. As it is no longer the case, this problem will rarely occur.

For those programmers whose code actually falls into the category of being affected by this bug, please fix the code immediately, not because it will cause your program to malfunction (although it might) but because it reflects poorly on your ability to be a computer programmer.
